Three Generations of Experience. One Vision for the Future.

Inspired by Mount Bromo, the iconic volcano in East Java, Indonesia, Bromo Guitars builds on three generations of family involvement in the guitar industry, combining decades of experience with a vision to create distinctive instruments for musicians worldwide.

The story began in Taiwan, where brothers C.C. Tsai and C.J. Tsai gained their first hands-on experience in a guitar factory established by the previous generation of their family. This early foundation shaped their understanding of guitar making and laid the groundwork for the family’s continued development in the musical instrument industry.

Our Journey

1975 — A New Chapter Begins

Building on their family’s guitar-making heritage, C.C. and C.J. Tsai began their professional journey in the guitar industry.

1990 — Establishing a Trading Business in Taiwan

The brothers jointly established a musical instrument trading company in Taiwan, focusing on imports and becoming the exclusive Taiwan distributor for internationally recognized guitar brands.

​

1995 — Expanding into China

The business expanded into China, focusing on guitar and ukulele exports and strengthening its experience in international trade and global markets.

 

2011 — Establishing PT AKT Indonesia

The family established PT AKT Indonesia in East Java, Indonesia, marking a new chapter in musical instrument manufacturing. Production began with Mahalo Ukuleles, followed by Valencia Classical Guitars, building a strong foundation in production management, quality control, and large-scale manufacturing.

 

2023 — The Birth of Bromo Guitars

Building on more than a decade of manufacturing experience in Indonesia, the family launched Bromo Guitars as its own brand, focusing on the mid-to-high-end acoustic guitar market. Bromo combines original designs, thoughtful craftsmanship, playability, quality, and lasting value.

2026 — Expanding into Electric Guitars

Following three years of dedicated research and development, Bromo unveiled its first electric guitar series at the Shanghai Music Show in October 2026, extending the brand’s design philosophy and manufacturing expertise into a new category.

Looking Ahead

Today, C.C. and C.J. continue to develop the family business alongside the next generation, including Alan Tsai and Michael Tsai.

We prioritize Indonesia’s rich variety of tone woods while sourcing suitable materials from around the world to meet the needs of each instrument.
